The earliest photo of John Martin Stewart available, with his grandmother Elizabeth Millar Martin and younger sister Agnes.
John would have been one of the last to leave the family home and eventually moved to England returning to Cumnock in 1975.
Photo circa 1905
Photo taken in John Stewart’s living room at Hurley sometime between 1965-1970. John and Flora had given a home to a Belgian dog(s) called a Griffon some time between 1965-1970.
Sister Agnes visited them in this period.
Flora, John and sister Peggy at John’s house in Hurley 1960.
I did not realise Peggy had visited her brother John in Hurley until I saw this photo.
John Stewart at his front door in Hurley. The two Griffon dogs probably date the photo to around 1965.
I believe John was in the army in WW1 and involved in an artillery regiment. More info if possible from any of his grandchildren would be helpful.
He did get married but his first wife died in 1933 leaving him with four children.
John and Flora visiting Jim and Annie Glendinning at their house in Burnton Place, New Cumnock. The little girl is Ann Glendinning.
Photo circa 1968.

Circa 1961?
John and grandson David at unknown location.
I am not quite sure what celebration is taking place but John and Flora seem dressed for the occasion.
